After being more or less on hiatus, Harmony released a
full length album in the end of November last year and is now, surprisingly
early, putting out another effort. This time the Swedish metallers have
chosen to release a 33 minute EP which comprises 2 new songs and 4 re-recorded
versions off their debut Dreaming Awake, originally released in 2003.
The overall performance is collectively efficient and
productive and with Daniel Heiman behind the microphone, the 4 initial
songs naturally sound a little different in comparison to the originals.
The somewhat progressive power metal and heavy metal songs come out
kind of fresh with an updated approach and Dreaming Awake is still one
hell of a song. Heiman's voice is still a great asset to any group he
chooses to lay down vocals for, but frankly he has in fact lost just
a little bit of the flawless and unreal capacity he used to have earlier
in his career.
Of the 2 new songs, In His Heart and Feed My Hunger, the
first one is the better choice, as far as I'm concerned, but it still
doesn't possess the quality to place itself safely inside my skin. In
my book, both tracks end up as filling material. In the end, this EP
is a decent effort, but I wouldn't recommend it other people than the
band's core fans.
