Distortion Of Perception - Project One: I.S.O Birth
![]() Greece has always had a warm place in my heart when it comes to music. We are talking about the land that gave us Rotting Christ and Nightfall among others. After some silent years from this part of Europe it may be a new era rising in the footsteps of the ancient and fallen heroes. Nowadays it's more than excellent wines that have put the city of Xanthi on the map. Distortion Of Perception was founded by some youngsters back in May -03 in order to play technical death metal in the veins of Arch Enemy and Death. The line up has remained over the years and have now resulted in this first demo. Project One: I.S.O Birth is a quite complex and technical history in four well-composed acts. Even though the members of Distortion Of Perception haven't played long together, they manage to make progressive death metal that feels very mature and well thought through, so to speak. There are good varieties in all of the four songs, technical but not over ambitious. Speed and aggression in well dosed portions. Actually it's all very simple, Distortion Of Perception includes five very skilled musicians that seem to work really well together. This is a fact that reveals in the eminent Abuse Enhanced. Musically there aren't much more to say than that it's very good. What I do miss with this demo is a stronger voice in order to do the music just. Giannikis Dimitris vocals are ok, but works best when he actually sings or scream the words out. A bit more powerful and angrier tone wouldn't hurt the next time. The production is ok and the mixing is more than ok actually. I would be really surprised if this bands' destiny would
be staying the local headbangers of Xanthi. This is an interesting and
skilled band that obviously knows how to handle their instruments. Distortion
Of Perception is worth to keep an eye or ear on in the near future.
