The extremely productive metal machine Vader is on it
again. As a taster before the full length album which is due for release
in November we get an EP with four songs. With closing in to 35 years
in the business, main man, guitarist, vocalist and song writer Peter
is showing no signs of slowing down one bit. They tour massively year
after year and still release very good and fresh albums. The last ones,
Welcome To The Morbid Reich (2011) and Tibi Et Igni (2014), are enough
proof.
Parabellum is a standard, fast paced and good Vader song
in all aspects without anything to complain about, but not to overly
praise either. Prayer To The God Of War starts the same way and is mostly
uptempo but includes a few touches of thrash metal elements along the
way, which is when Vader usually gets a great flow going, and Piesc
I Stal have a very slow, dark and quite distinct heavy metal touch to
it. Overkill is a Motörhead cover and sounds exactly like you could
expect.
This is overall an enjoyable and satisfying release that
shows that the hunger, production and vocals are still there, but like
most EP's I don't think it represents the coming album well. I have
the feeling it will be even better.
