15 questions to Tom Naumann of Primal Fear

1. Now when you have insight in the business - would you encourage your daughter or son to become a professional musician, or advice against it?

  • Tom: As long as you have fun in doing the things you would like to do, you should always go for it. If my son or my daughter needs a good advice concerning music business i always would give a helping hand.

2. A metalsong you think "Man - I wish I'd written that one...." when you hear it?

  • Tom: Way to many....There is such good metal music on earth that it is very hard to pick some certain song and it would be unfair to the other great songs that i won`t mention, but i wish i could have invented Metal ...........

3. The last album you bought/acquired, and your brief opinion about it?

  • Tom: The last album that i bought is definetely not a typical metal album. I bought an album from The Rasmus called Into. Good songs on that a album with a punk feel but still very commercial...But to be honest i am more into buying DVD`s right now....

4. If someone told you tomorrow that you can't be involved in music anymore, what do you see yourself doing in 5 years from now?

  • Tom: Toughest question so far. I guess i would run a bar with rock music.

5. Myself as a privat person in a few sentences?

  • Tom: Average guy with a sense of humor. A good buddy to hang out with...

6. Unexpectedly and out of the blue you get a whole week totally off from music and work - what would you most of all want to do?

  • Tom: Spend some time in the sun with a bunch of crazy friends....(girls included)

7. Mp3 - an abomination or a good way to make your name and music heard?

  • Tom: As long as you do not download it from the net a good thing. Don`t forget that downloading will save your money but also will kill some good talented bands and also your favourite kind of music.

8. What do you treasure most in your life, except metal and family?

  • Tom: Being healthy. I hope it will stay that way...

9. An instrument you always wish that you started playing/learning, but never did?

  • Tom: Definetely the piano. It must be great to play and to compose on ebony and ivory...

10. Beer, whisky, wine or a cocktail in the tv sofa on a relaxed at-home-saturday night? Brand of the beverage?

  • Tom: Beer....Kilkenny. i am not into whiskey that much , but if i have to prefer one i would say Canadian. I am more into Vodka ( Smirnoff).

11. Which historical person do you feel would fit best as a description on you as a person?

  • Tom: I think that i am not able to compare myself to historical persons, because they did something extraordinary that made them famous.

12. What most people don't know, never have known, and probably never would know about me if they don't read this?

  • Tom: I am a lousy guitar player,but i am sure that somebody recognized it.... :-))))))))

13. If a famous actor were to play the part as you in a motion picture - who would be best suitable for that purpose, you think?

  • Tom: I wish it would be Sean Connery. He does not look like me but he is the man!!!!!

14. What ingredient is the most important and vital of them all when making good music, according to you?

  • Tom: It has to come from the heart. Do the music you would like to do and dont let anyone tell you what it`s good for you, because only you know.

15. Your best advice to a person determined to make it in the metalbusiness?

  • Tom: Be excellent to each other...party on !!!!!!!!!!!!!...and do not change...
